What Ashton wants for Universal City
Fiscal Responsibility -
I want to make sure the city and city council members have exhausted every possible resource and thoroughly discussed options before asking taxpayers to pay more or pass new bonds. I want to be a part of doing research, looking at finances, and helping to cut waste. I want to make sure that items like contracts and ordinances have end dates and proper terms.
Lower Tax Rates- I spoke at the city council in 2022 and believe it is important that the city works hard to adopt a balanced budget and lower taxes whenever possible. This is something I would fight for every year when it is brought up.
Transparency -
I want citizen's to know that they can come to me with their concerns. I will do everything I can to make sure the citizen's voices are heard. Citizens deserve to get answers and have the city discuss their concerns. Finally, I also want to help the city become more transparent to its citizens.
Communication -
I want to help the city with its communication with citizens. Be it publishing information earlier, working on the city's website, or expanding marketing. I think the city needs to work on better ways to reach the citizenry. Publishing ahead of schedule and marketing in several places is the only way to ensure that any Universal City resident, who wants to be involved, can become involved. In this busy world, people need to be able to plan ahead, especially those with families.
Safety:-
Several citizens have talked to me about their concerns about safety in their neighborhoods. It seems the main issues are excessive speeds through neighborhood streets and crime. I believe both of these should become agenda topics for the city council to discuss. If I am elected, I am more than happy to bring up these issues to the city and council.

Who is Ashton?
- My family and I have been residents of Universal City for the past 6 years.
- My husband and I have owned two homes in Universal City. The first in Coronado and currently in Rose Garden.
- We are a committed homeschool family. We have been homeschooling our three children for the past six years. We have three children aged 10, 15, and 17, with my oldest currently being a Senior. Our youngest has been homeschooled her entire life.
- I have attended almost every single city council meeting for the last year. I stay current on every agenda and all issues brought to the city council.
- I have never shied away from publicly speaking on issues I or my neighbors care about. I have personally addressed the city council on numerous occasions. You can see the videos below.
- I believe in a connected community which is why I host things like National Night Out and communicate with all my neighbors often. When we were losing our alley trash, I made sure to speak with each one of my neighbors about how it would affect them. We exchange Christmas goodies and fall treats. Teaching my children to always be good neighbors.
- A huge advocate of lower taxes, fiscally conservative, and responsible.
- My entire family, children included, loves to volunteer. We love Universal City and volunteer any chance we get.
- I am unashamedly in love with the color pink. I have a pink fridge, and pink kitchen appliances and many of you have seen me in town in my pink jeep! As someone from a younger generation, I am grateful towards previous generations of women who have paved the way for me. Thankfully, my generation can be leaders, while at the same time fully embracing our femininity. I see the color pink as a symbol of feminine strength and I embrace that wholeheartedly.

My first time speaking at city council about losing trash alley pick up. I speak at 13 minutes and 47 seconds.

|
I spoke up against an ordinance that was clearly discriminating against homeschooled children. The ordinance had passed in the past due to no one ever speaking up. I speak at 10 minutes and 56 seconds.

I spoke in regards to the city wanting to raise taxes even more than they needed for a balanced budget. 5 out of 6 council members agreed. I speak at 35 minutes and 36 seconds.
I spoke about asking the council to put the venue tax back on the city agenda. |
